Rent is usually paid monthly in advance
Most landlords require direct bank transfer (SEPA)
Security deposit is typically 2-3 months' cold rent
First payment includes first month's rent and security deposit
Utility costs (Nebenkosten) may be paid separately or included

Kaltmiete (Cold rent): The base rent for the apartment only, excluding any additional costs.

Warmmiete (Warm rent): The total rent including heating, water, property management, and other ancillary costs (Nebenkosten).
